MARKETING OF BROILERS: EASY WAYS TO MAKE PROFIT FROM SELLING BROILERS

Our broilers ready for market
Taking the weight
Marketing of broiler products has been and still one of the serious challenge facing every broiler producers. Farmers invest a lot to rear these birds and at the end, sometimes sale below cost to either middle men or to consumers.

Simple ways to market your broilers and make profit

Broiler marketing can be very simple but requires a reasonable effort to achieve.
As a farmer chose which marketing strategy best suits your location.

i. Marketing at 3weeks or 4weeks
Due to the stress involved in brooding broilers, most farmers prefer stocking their farms with 3weeks or 4weeks old birds. As a farmer who intend making profit, target these farmers who prefer brooded birds and sell to them.
In the areas I'm familiar with, this type of marketing yields more profit in broiler production maybe because the birds consumption rate is still low.

ii. Marketing when the birds are matured
This is the most common. At this point the birds are between 6-12 weeks. This type is mainly during festive seasons.
It's actually profitable because most consumers who can't afford the high cost of goats or cattle turn to take broilers.

iii.  Slaughter and sell
This is mainly for established farmers who have installed freezing gadgets. Farmers slaughter their birds, package in deep freezers and market the meat gradually to consumers.

All the above marketing strategies are profitable but you have to chose according to your location demands

Preventing the onset of disease or parasites. 2. Recognising at an early stage the presence of disease or parasites, and 3.Treating all flocks that are diseased or infested with parasites as soon as possible and before they develop into a serious condition or spread to other flocks. To be able to do this it is imperative to know how to identify that; i.The birds are diseased, ii. The action required for preventing or minimising disease and iii. How to monitor for signs
