All the species we'll discuss here are species of air-breathing tropical land snail, a terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusk in the family Achatinidae. 1. Achatina Achatina – Achatina achatina, commonly known as the giant Ghana snail or  the giant tiger land snail. Achatina achatina in mating mode Features of Achatina achatina • They are hemraphrodites, meaning that each snail possess both the female and male reproductive organs but two snails are still needed for breeding. • They are very prolific breeders. • Achatina achatina’s shell can attain a length of 200 mm and a maximum diameter of 100 mm.
